Sydney Thunder vs. Adelaide Strikers Big Bash League: Strikers outnumber Thunder to post lowest T20 total ever

The Big Bash League’s previous winners, Sydney Thunder, were knocked out for the lowest score ever in a professional T20 cricket match on Friday. The Sydney Thunder, who won the league in 2015-16, were beaten by 15 runs by the Adelaide Strikers at Sydney Showground Stadium. In a startling batting showing, Sydney Thunder were bowled out for 15 in a BBL match against Adelaide Strikers, losing by 124 runs.
The whole squad was bundled out for 15, which is now the lowest team score in T20 history. Henry Thorton took five wickets for Strikers and was the mastermind behind the devastation. Wes Agar took four wickets, while Matthew Short took one.
Adelaide Strikers scored 139/9 and bowled out their opponents in just 5.5 overs to win by 124 runs in the sixth match of the BBL 2022-23 season. Sydney’s score of 15 all out surpassed Turkey’s previous record of 21 all out against Czech Republic in 2019.
The Sydney Thunder had no hitters reach double figures, with Brendan Doggett leading the way with four runs. In the innings, five hitters were out for no reason.
Adelaide’s wrecker-in-chief was pacer Henry Thornton, who took a fifer, 5 for 3 in 2.5 overs, while Wes Agar took 4 for 6 in 2 overs. Adelaide’s last wicket was taken by Matthew Short (1/5).
After electing to bat first, the Adelaide Strikers managed a below-par 139/9 score. Chris Lynn (36) and Colin de Grandhomme (33) were their leading scores.
“I have no idea what’s going on, it’s incredible. We thought they bowled pretty well considering the condition of the wicket, but we hung in there long enough. I’ve never seen anything like this before; it’s just incredible. We basically believed that if we could bowl on top of the stumps, we’d have a good idea of what we needed to do. I believe we received many nick-offs, and Short made one of the better catches at first slip. I’m incredibly thrilled for Wes Agar because he bowls so well. He was really diligent and delivered an outstanding performance. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the bowling with three slips. It was very fascinating how Lynn asked whether you wanted two or three slips. It’s fantastic to have guys like Lynn by your side. I couldn’t believe it, to be honest. “I thought 150 would be plenty, but it turned out to be more than enough.”
