Siddharth claims his parents were hounded for 20 minutes at the airport: ‘They conversed with us in Hindi.’

Siddharth claims that security officers at the Madurai airport harassed him and his parents. He stated that they spoke to them in Hindi despite their plea to speak in English.
According to actor Siddharth of Rang De Basanti, he and his parents were recently harassed by security authorities at the Madurai airport. He stated that after being instructed to communicate in English, they persisted to converse with them in Hindi. On Instagram Stories, he posted a photo from the airport and discussed his experience. He went on to say that when they objected, they were told, “This is how it is in India.” Also read: Katrina Kaif has been ordered to halt by airport security while on vacation with Vicky Kaushal.
Siddharth captioned the photo on his Instagram Stories: “CRPF harassed me for 20 minutes at Madurai airport. They forced my elderly folks take coins out of their luggage! And spoke to us in Hindi despite being ordered to speak in English.” In the tweet, he mistakenly tagged CRPF instead of CISF (Central Industrial Security Force).
This year, Siddharth appeared in the online series Escaype Live on Disney+ Hotstar. It was set in the dark side of social media and starred Jaaved Jaaferi.
Siddharth got involved in a dispute in January when he was arrested by the Hyderabad Police’s cybercrime branch for a tweet directed at star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal. According to a senior police officer, a complaint was filed under IPC Section 509 (word, gesture, or act designed to offend the modesty of women) and relevant parts of the Information Technology Act. He then apologised publicly, calling his remark a “rude joke” and admitting that he couldn’t “justify my tone and words.”
Siddharth had responded to Saina Nehwal’s tweet about PM Narendra Modi’s security lapse in Punjab, but his comment was widely condemned for being sexist. The National Commission for Women (NCW) even requested that the actor’s account be “immediately” blocked by Twitter India.
Siddharth has appeared in films in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. He is well recognised for his part in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti, in which he co-starred with Aamir Khan. He will now appear in Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. Nedumudi Venu, Sudeep, Gulshan Grover, Kajal Aggarwal, and Rakul Preet Singh also appear in the film.
