A former dhaba employee who was trying to flee with the car over a payment disagreement with the restaurant’s owner was caught on Sunday for reckless driving and causing serious injuries, according to Mohali police.
A reversing tempo truck struck Punjabi singer Amanjot Singh Pannu, also known as Alfaaz, on Saturday night outside Pal Dhaba on the Banur-Landran route, causing several casualties.
According to authorities, the driver of the car was a former employee of the dhaba who was attempting to depart with it due to a financial disagreement with the restaurant’s owner.
The musician reportedly received multiple injuries to his head, arms, and legs, and his pals took him to the hospital.
The culprit, Vicky, was able to get away from the scene but was later taken into custody by the Mohali Police.
Vicky, the accused and a resident of Raipur Rani, was ultimately taken into custody on Sunday.
The singer was taken to Fortis Hospital in Phase 8, Mohali, with multiple heads, arm, and leg injuries, but is currently said to be in stable condition.
The singer said in his statement to the police on Sunday that he had gone to the Dhaba with his pals Teji, Kuljit, and Gurpreet for dinner.
He observed Vicky, a former employee of the dhaba, argue with the proprietor over unpaid wages. He begged the owner to settle the dispute before going outside to use the restroom.
An enraged Vicky attempted to steal the Dhaba owner’s tempo truck that was parked outside as he refused to pay.
However, a senior police source claimed that the driver crashed into the musician while reversing because he was in a rush and failed to see him standing behind the car.
The injured musician was taken to Fortis Hospital right afterwards, where he Sunday started to feel better.
