His last film Uunchai, with Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani has impressed movie suckers, too. ETimes caught up with Anupam Kher to chronicle his studies on his likeability and his evergreen spirit. You’ve noway nestled down from expressing your political and particular views, yet, you have not been combed or entered counter reaction like some of your other peers.
That is because I believe that I’ve to first be popular with myself and also the rest of the world.However, why should I disguise it? Some people may like it, some may not, If I want to say commodity and I believe in it. I do n’t have time to engage with negativity. It’s time to do good effects and meet good people. I’ve started a new converse show named Manzilen Aur Bhi Hain on my YouTube channel. It has clocked,000 twinkles in 36 hours. The first occasion features my mama.
The cult have gone through a rough patch. They don’t like anything fake presently. After going through two times of COVID and lockdown, people detest anything that’sfake. However, they will reject it, If they smell artificiality. You ca n’t get down with anything. And it was important. We’ll learn a lot.
Do you feel the star system, that has prevailed in Hindi cinema for decades, is fading down?
No, it’s nothing like that. People like icons. But our icons have changed now. Now Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu are icons. Entertainment will always remain but we ’ll have to come up with commodity genuine and actually amusing. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was larger- than- life but it was relatable. The Kashmir lines didn’t have any song and cotillion but it did a business of 350 crores. My other film Karthikeya 2 was first released in 50 theatres. Also it gradationally went up to 2000 theatres. So, it’s not like there’s no followership but you can’t con your followership presently.
Are people not happy with South flicks doing well?
South is also part of India. What’s the problem? There’s a certain quantum of fictitiousness in their cinema. However, you’ll succeed, If you’re genuine and have a good story.
Have you considered directing a film again?
I’m doing a lot of effects. I’m working on a book. I’m writing a story but my speed is slow. I’ll direct that but I don’t know when will that be completed.
Does your woman Kirron also get positivity from you?
I suppose she’s the epitome of positivity. To be diagnosed with cancer one time ago and now to be back at work and do her constituency work in Chandigarh, I suppose mortal spirit is the most seductive thing that there is. That’s the only way to live.
